Here are the answers to Wednesday morning's Cisco CCNA and CCNP exam practice questions!

CCNA:

Short answer: Convert the hex value A3F to decimal.

Answer: We've got 10 units of 256, three units of 16, and fifteen units of one - that's 2623.

CCNP / BSCI:

Identify the true statements regarding the following command.

R1(config)#ip route 210.1.1.0 255.255.255.0 serial0

A. The local exit interface is serial0.

B. The interface on the next-hopr router that will receive packets sent via this route is Serial0.

C. The wildcard mask is incorrectly configured.

D. The subnet mask is correctly configured.

E. The destination network is 210.1.1.0 /24.

F. The gateway of last resort for this network is 210.1.1.0 /24.

Answer: A, D, E. The ip route statement is used to create static routes. When you specify an interface at the end of the statement, that's the local exit interface. ip route statements use subnet masks, not wildcard masks. Finally, the network in the statement is the destination network.

CCNP / BCMSN:

You've decided to introduce Backbonefast to your network. On what switches should this service be enabled?

A. All access-layer switches

B. All core-layer switches

C. All distribution-layer switches

D. All switches

E. Root switches only

Answer: D. Backbonefast should be enabled on all the switches in the network.

CCNP / BCMSN:

How many bytes are added to a frame as a result of ISL encapsulation?

A. 15 bytes

B. 30 bytes

C. 60 bytes

D. 120 bytes

Answer: B. The header is 26 bytes, the trailer containing the CRC value is 4 bytes. This can make the frame too large for the switch to handle.

CCNP / CIT:

An end user reports an issue using a web browser. On your walk to his workstation, you note that no one else seems to have the same problem. What's the best troubleshooting model to use in approaching this problem?

A. bottom - up

B. top - down

C. divide-and-conquer

D. analytical model

Answer: B. If only one person's having the problem, it's local, and probably with the browser application - therefore, you should start at the top of the OSI model.

See you later tonight with more Cisco certification exam practice questions and answers!
