Here are the answers to Sunday morning's Cisco CCNA and CCNP certification exam practice questions!

CCNA:

You want to have your router connect to a remote router located at 172.12.123.1. What can you do to avoid typing that entire address, and instead just type the letters "LA"?

A. Build a static ARP lookup table.

B. Build an IP Host table.

C. Disable the default name-lookup behavior of the router.

D. Build a RARP lookup table.

Answer: B. Just create an IP host table that maps "LA" to 172.12.123.1, and you're all set.

CCNP / BSCI:

By default, how does an OSPF routing table indicate routes that were learned by the OSPF domain via redistribution?

A. O E1

B. O E2

C. O EX

D. O IA

E. O *IA

Answer: B. They're marked External Type-2 by default, which means their metric will reflect only the cost from the local router to the ASBR, not to the destination network.

CCNP / BCMSN:

How many UDLD frames must a device send with no response before shutting the port down in aggressive mode?

A. One

B. Two

C. Three

D. Five

E. Eight

F. Ten

Answer: E.

CCNP / BCRAN:

R1 is configured with ppp authentication chap callin. R2 is configured with ppp authentication chap. Assuming the rest of the config is fine, what will the result be when R1 pings R2?

A. One-way CHAP authentication will occur.

B. Two-way CHAP authentication will occur.

C. The negotiation will fail.

D. There will be three separate authentications (three-way handshake).

Answer: A. When R1 pings R2, the only authentication that will occur is R2 authenticating R1. R1 will only authenticate R2 when the call is coming into R1 - not when the call is outgoing.

CCNP / CIT:

You're trying to form a BGP peering between two routers that are in different ASes. The routers are spokes in a hub-and-spoke network. What BGP default must be changed for a successful peering to occur?

A. weight

B. LOCAL_PREF

C. ebgp-multihop

D. update-source

E. AS_PATH

F. aggregate

G. atomic aggregate

Answer: C. BGP makes the assumption that eBGP neighbors are directly connected. If they're not, the ebgp-multihop value must be changed from its default value of one.
