Welcome back! Blogger was having a technical issue yesterday, so let's catch up with the answers to Saturday's Cisco CCNA certification and CCNP certification training questions! All of Saturday's questions were short answer:

CCNA:

In OSPF, what is meant by the term "external route"?

Answer: An OSPF external route is one learned by the OSPF process via redistribution.

CCNP / BSCI: Give two reasons to divide a large Area 0 into smaller areas in OSPF.

Answer: One benefit of segmenting a large Area 0 into smaller areas is to reduce the amount of LSA traffic flying around the network. With smaller areas, the number of routers that need to receive an LSA update reflecting a network change is reduced. In turn, this means few Dijkstra recalculations, which helps keep OSPF routing tables stable.

CCNP / BCMSN: What block of the Enterprise Composite Network Model is not under the control of the local administration?

Answer: The Service Provider Edge block borders the Enterprise Edge Block, but it's not under local control - it belongs to the Service Provider.

CCNP / BCRAN: In what countries does ISDN PRI consist of 31 channels?

Answer: In Europe and Australia, PRI consists of 30 b-channels and 1 d-channel. They are all 64 kbps channels and have the same responsibilities as their BRI counterparts.

CCNP / CIT: What command will show you the current uptime of a Cisco 2950 switch?

Answer: show version gives you the uptime of a Cisco router or switch.

See you later today with a new batch of Cisco CCNA certification and CCNP training questions!
