CCNA:

A host boots up, and does not have an IP address assigned to it. Which of the following two protocols will assign an IP address to such a host?

A. ARP

B. RARP

C. Inverse ARP

D. DHCP

E. DNS

F. WINS

Answers: B, D. Both Reverse ARP (RARP) and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) are protocols that can dynamically assign IP addresses.


Network+ :

What cable type is needed to connect two switches?

A. straight-through

B. rollover

C. crossover

D. trunk

Answer: C. You must have a crossover cable to connect two switches. You CCNA candidates better know that, too! :)


CCNP / BSCI:

What is the default AD of a route marked "D EX" ?

A. 90

B. 110

C. 120

D. 170

E. It depends on the default seed metric.

Answer: D. This is an External EIGRP route, and it has a default AD of 170. Internal EIGRP routes have an AD of 90.


CCNP / BCRAN: You run the command show line and note that there are asterisks next to some of the lines. What does this indicate?

A. The line is not in use and is available.

B. The line is in use.

C. The line is not in use and is not available -- RSVP has reserved it.

D. The line is not in use and is not available -- line errors have disabled it.

Answer: B. The asterisk simply means the line is in use.


CCNP / CIT: The STP timers are set to their defaults on an assumption that the switched network is no more than how many switches in diameter?

Answer: C.
