Here are the answers to Wednesday's Cisco certification practice questions!

CCNA Exam:

Fill in the blank: The full command that will show you what RIP versions are running on a router's interfaces, as well as whether autosummarization is on, is ____________ .

Answer: show ip protocols will show you this information, and a great deal more. An excellent starting point for troubleshooting.

CCNP Certification / BSCI Exam:

The cost of an E1 route indicates what?

A. The cost of the path from the local router to the ASBR.

B. The cost of the path from the local router to the destination.

C. The cost of the path from the ASBR to the destination.

D. The cost of the path from the local router to the ABR.

Answer: B. OSPF E1 routes are learned originally by redistribution, and include the entire cost of the path from the local router to the destination network. The default is E2, where only the cost of the path from the ASBR to the destination network is reflected in the cost.

CCNP Certification / BCMSN Exam:

An ISIS L1 router can form an adjacency with what other router types?

A. An L1 in the same area.

B. An L1 in another area.

C. An L1/L2 in the same area.

D. An L1/L2 in another area.

E. An L2 in the same area.

F. An L2 in another area.

Answers: A, C. L1 routers can only form adjacencies with L1s and L1/L2s that are in the same area. An L1 router cannot form an adjacency with a router in another area, nor can it form an adjacency with an L2 in any area. And you're right, this isn't a BCMSN question. My fault! :)
