Answer: E. If the switch detects that the source and destination are both found off the same port, the switch will filter the frame - in other words, just drop it.


Network+

Short answer: What term describes a switching mode where a connection is built between two network hosts before they actually start exchanging data?

Answer: This term describes circuit switching, where a circuit is created between hosts before data exchange begins.


CCNP / BSCI:

Short answer: What's the default cost for an OSPF-enabled serial interface connected to a T1 line?

Answer: 64.


CCNP / BCMSN:

A VTP switch has a revision number of 5. This switch receives a VTP advertisement with a revision number of 6. What action(s) will this switch take?

A. The switch will reject the advertisement.

B. The switch will accept the advertisement.

C. The switch will increment its revision number.

D. The switch will decrement its revision number.

Answer: B, C. When a switch receives a VTP update with a revision number higher than the one it currently has, the update is accepted and the receiving switch increments its own revision number.


CCNP / BCRAN:

DLCI 122 shows as inactive. Where will the problem most likely be found?

A. The frame switch or remote router.

B. The local router.

C. A local host.

D. One of the b-channels.

E. The d-channel.

Answer: A. "Inactive" indicates a problem in the frame relay cloud or on the remote router.


CCNP / CIT:

You're writing an IP Host table for reverse telnet. Which of the following is a valid line for a connection to R1?

A. ip host R1 1 100.1.1.1

B. ip host R1 2001 telnet reverse
