CCNA Certification / Network+ Combination Question:

Host A wants to send data to Host B. Host A knows Host B's Layer 3 address, but not its Layer Two address. What protocol will resolve this issue?

A. ARP

B. RARP

C. IARP

D. DHCP

Answer: A. That's the job of ARP - Address Resolution Protocol.


CCENT Certification:

Starting at Layer 1 of the OSI model and working up, arrange these topics and protocols in order. Some layers will have more than one topic or protocol.

TCP, IP, MAC address, physical address, bridge, switch, router, segment, frame, packet, UDP

Answers:

Physical layer (Layer One) - None of these.

Data Link layer (Layer Two) - MAC address, physical address, bridge, switch, frame

Network layer (Layer Three) - IP, router, packet

Transport layer (Layer Four) - TCP, segment, UDP



CCNP Certification / BSCI Exam:

Short answer: After route summarization is configured, the router on which summarization is configured will have an extra route. To what interface or destination does this new route point?

Answer: There will be a route to the Null0 interface. This is a routing loop prevention mechanism.



CCNP Certification / BCMSN Exam:

Short answer: A switch has two paths to the root bridge. One is direct, the other goes through another switch. You want to lessen the delay that will occur if the current root port goes down. What Cisco feature can help?

Answer: Uplinkfast can help. When the root port goes down, the currently blocked port will be placed info forwarding mode almost immediately.
