Here are the answers to the Cisco CCNA practice exam questions posted Wednesday, July 22!


Question 1:

Short answer: Convert the binary string 00111001 to decimal.

Answer: 57.


Question 2:

When you configure an OSPF broadcast network, which routers require the "neighbor" command?

A. The DR only

B. The BDR only

C. The DR and BDR

D. All OSPF-speaking routers

E. No OSPF-speaking routers

Answer: E. The neighbor command isn't necessary on broadcast networks.


Question 3:

Which of the following are considered by EIGRP by default in route metric calculation?

A. distance

B. bandwidth

C. hop count

D. MTU

E. delay

Answer: B, E.



Question 4:

Name two major differences between WPA and WEP.

Answer: Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) has some real problems:

Clear-text keys

Static keys (makes passwords easier to guess)

One-way authentication (client does not authenticate AP, making it easier for rogue access points to infiltrate the WLAN)

Encryption scheme is very easily broken in a matter of seconds


None of those is true of WPA.


Question 5:

Short answer: Which layer of the OSI model is considered the "manager" of the communication between two end hosts?

Answer: The Session layer.
