Here's your all-new CCNA and CCENT Training Post for Monday, December 23!

Speaking of practice exams, my all-new CCNA and CCNP practice exam site launches in January, along with a total refresh of the main TBA website! (Finally!)

And now... today's practice exam!

1.  Under which of the following circumstances will a DUAL Query be sent in EIGRP?

A.  One is sent with every EIGRP Hello packet.

B.  An EIGRP route has gone into Passive state.

C.  A feasible successor has been lost and there is no successor.

D.  Never, because EIGRP doesn't use DUAL.

E.  A successor route has left the IP routing table and there's no feasible successor.

2.   Regarding EIGRP, OSPF, and wildcard masks, which of the following is true?

A.  Neither protocol requires this type of mask, but you can use wildcard masks with either protocol.

B.  EIGRP requires wildcard mask usage, but OSPF does not.

C.  OSPF requires you use wildcard masks, but EIGRP does not.

D.  Both protocols require the use of wildcard masks.

3.   Which of the following is true regarding EIGRP autosummarization?

A.  It's on by default.

B.  The "no auto-summary" command is a default command, written when you enter an EIGRP AS.

C.  Leaving this feature on can lead to subnet advertisement issues in your network.

D.  Under no circumstances should EIGRP autosummarization be disabled.

4.   Given the following EIGRP route entry, give the exact value we expect to see where the four Xs are, and what that value represents.

D       2.2.2.2 [XXXX /409600] via 172.23.23.2, 00:01:49, Ethernet0

And now -- the answers!

1.  "E".   EIGRP's DUAL Query process goes into action when a successor route is lost and there is no feasible successor.

2.  "C".  OSPF requires the use of wildcard masks, but EIGRP does not.

3.  "A,C".  EIGRP autosummarization is on by default, and leaving it on can lead to some trouble with advertising subnets in your network, which in turn can lead to suboptimal routing.

4.  The "xxxx" would be 90 in this case, since this is an EIGRP internal route.  We know it's an EIGRP interal route because of the "D" routing code at the far left.

That number is the administrative distance of the routing protocol, which is a measure of believability.  If the code were "D EX", it would be an EIGRP external route, and that route would have an AD of 170.

See you Tuesday with another new practice exam!

Always Be Passing,

Chris B.

Chris I just bought your videos and going to buy your CCENT book on amazon, I am still a college student at the moment so I hope your book is easy to understand and I am going to give it a shot(Since it is so cheap anyways). I will give it a review after I read it though to see how easy it is to understand the topics, keep up the good work!
