CEF has two major components. Name and briefly describe them.

Answer: CEF-enabled switches keep a Forwarding Information Base (FIB) that contains the usual routing information - the destination networks, their masks, the next-hop IP addresses, etc - and CEF will use the FIB to make L3 prefix-based decisions.

The FIB takes care of the L3 routing information, but what of the L2 information we need? That's found in the Adjacency Table (AT). As adjacent hosts are discovered via ARP, that next-hop L2 information is kept in this table for CEF switching.


ISCW Exam:

Short answer: Name the three major label exchange information protocols.

Answer:

Here are your free CCNA, CCNP, Security, Voice, and Network+ 2009 practice exam questions for Monday, June 22!

All of today's questions are short answer - no choices given.


CCNA and CCENT Certification:

You're running EIGRP and RIP on your Cisco router, and you also have some static routes in your routing table. What command will display only the routing table entries created by RIP?

Answer: show ip route rip



CCNA Security:

What two- or three-command combination would accomplish all of the following?

A. Enable AAA

B. Configure the router to know there's a TACACS+ server at 172.10.10.100

C. Configure a password of PASSCISCOEXAM for communications with that server

Answer: You could use these two commands:

R1(config)#aaa new-model
