Welcome back! It's an exciting time here, with the ONT Study Package coming out later this month and the CCNA Security Study Package release coming up in September.

I've also added CCNA Security practice exam questions to the daily posts, and both CCNA Wireless and CCNA Voice questions will begin on August 1.

Here are the answers to yesterday's questions... enjoy!

Cisco CCENT Exam:

What do the terms "physical address", "MAC address", and "hardware address" have in common?

Answer: They all describe the same thing, a Data Link layer address. The terms "physical address" and "hardware address" refer to the physical impression of the MAC address that exists on the hardware (the Network Interface Card).

CCNA Certification:

In the MAC address 11-22-33-44-55-66, which part of the address identifies the vendor that created the network device with that address? What's the technical name of that part of the address?

Answer: That's the Organizationally Unique Identifier (OUI), and that's the first half of the MAC address - in this case, 11-22-33.

CCNP Certification / BSCI Exam:

Of the following, traffic for which ports is translated from a broadcast to a unicast when the ip helper-address command has been configured?







Answers: A, B, F. These are the ports that are translated from broadcast to unicast with the ip helper-address command:

TIME, port 37; TACACS, port 49; DNS, port 53; BOOTP/DHCP Server, port 67; BOOTP/DHCP Client, port 68; TFTP, port 69; NetBIOS name service, port 137;NetBIOS datagram service, port 138.

CCNP Certification / BCMSN Exam:

The full command to disable a switch port's ability to transmit DTP frames is ____________.

Answer: switchport nonegotiate.

CCNP Certification / ISCW Exam:

Briefly describe a "DDoS" attack.

Answer: A Distributed Denial-Of-Service attack is a typical DoS attack, but one that is carried out by a large number of attackers rather than a single host.

CCNP Certification / ONT Exam:

A router is configured for DiffServ. Which of the following values can the router consider when performing QoS?

A. IP Prec

B. CoS marking

C. incoming interface


Answer: A, C, D. Routers will not use CoS values.
