Here are the answers to Tuesday's bonus set of Cisco and CompTIA certification exam questions. All of these questions were short answer.

CCNA:

00111111 10101111 00101010 01010101

Answer: 63.175.42.85

Network+:

What IEEE standard defines Ethernet?

Answer: Ethernet is defined by IEEE 802.3.

Security+:

Briefly describe SSL. Include any pertinent port numbers.

Answer: SSL is Secure Sockets Layer, an encryption method that involves both a secret and shared key. It's commonly used on sites that require a customer to enter a credit card number. HTTP over SSL runs on port 443.

CCNP / BSCI:

You want one of your IGRP routers to advertise a default route throughout the network. Which command is the most efficient way of doing so?

Answer: With IGRP, there's just one way to propagate a default route, and that's with the ip default-network command. IGRP doesn't accept a route to 0.0.0.0, so the static default route is out. The default-information originate commands are OSPF commands, and ip default-gateway should be used only when IP routing is off.

CCNP / BCMSN:

Briefly describe the purpose of VMPS.

Answer: The VLAN Membership Policy Server allows creation of dynamic VLANs.

CCNP / BCRAN:

In the command aaa authentication login default group radius group tacacs none, what happens if the user fails RADIUS authentication?

Answer: If authentication fails, the process ends with the user being denied access. The second option is looked at only if the first option times out or returns an error.

CCNP / CIT:

By default, why does a DHCP broadcast cross a router?

Answer: Because it's there.

Okay, that's not the answer. The answer is - it doesn't! That's why we need DHCP Relay Agents on occasion.

See you later today with more answers from this past week's questions, and more Cisco and CompTIA certification exam practice questions!
