Good morning! Here are the answers to Friday's CCNA, CCNP, and Network+ exam questions!

CCNA:

Convert the decimal 231 to a binary string.

Answer: 11100111.

Network +:

You can ping a website by its IP address, but not by its hostname. What protocol or network service most likely isn't working correctly?

Answer: Most likely it's a DNS issue, since name resolution is the problem here.

CCNP / BSCI:

What is the range of private BGP autonomous systems?

Answer: 64512 - 65535.

CCNP / BCRAN:

IKE is a hybrid. It's a combination of what three protocols?

Answer: Oakley, SKEME, and ISAKMP.

CCNP / BCMSN:

Name two methods of resetting a switch's VTP revision number back to zero, and explain briefly why this is so important.

Answer: To reset the revision number, change the VTP domain name to a nonexistent one and then change it back, or change the mode from Transparent to Server and then back again. On a switch being moved from one network to another, it's vital to reset the VTP revision number in order to prevent a new switch's VTP advertisements from taking precedence over VTP ads from switches already in the network.

CCNP / CIT:Briefly explain what is "helped" by the command ip helper-address.

Answer: This command allows a router to "help" certain UTP broadcasts reach their destination by converting them to unicasts.

See you in just a few minutes with the answers to Saturday's questions, and a new batch of CCNA, CCNP, Network+, and Security+ questions!
