Here are the answers to Saturday night's Cisco CCNA and CCNP practice questions.

CCNA:

What of the following describes the amount of bandwidth guaranteed to the customer by the frame provider?

A. BC

B. BE

C. DC

D. Peak

E. CIR

F. EIR

Answer: E. The CIR (Committed Information Rate) is the link speed guaranteed to the customer by the frame provider. You may get more bandwidth, but you shouldn't get less.

CCNP / BSCI:

Traffic destined for 110.1.1.1 would use what local interface to exit the router? Assume a default static route has been created that uses Serial2 as its exit interface.

O 110.1.1.0/24 [110/20] via ethernet0
R 110.1.1.0/24 [120/4] via serial0
O 110.1.1.0/24 [110/10] via serial1

Answer: The traffic would exit interface serial1. The prefix lengths are all the same, so AD is the next value considered. OSPF routes have a lower AD than RIP, so it's between those two paths. The path using serial1 has a lower metric - 10 - than the path using ethernet0. That makes it the more desirable of the two paths. The default static route would only be used if there was no other match in the routing table.

CCNP / BCMSN:

Short answer: What interface-level command allows a port to trust an incoming CoS value?

Answer: mls qos trust cos

CCNP / BCRAN:

What interface type(s) require the use of the frame-relay interface-dlci command?

A. Any kind of subinterface.

B. Any interface or subinterface that uses Inverse ARP.

C. Any interface or subinterface that does not use Inverse ARP.

D. A point-to-point subinterface only.

E. A multipoint subinterface only.

Answer: D. The frame-relay interface-dlci command is used only with ptp subinterfaces. The router will not allow you to configure this command on physical interfaces or multipoint subinterfaces.

CCNP / CIT:

Browse the following switch output and identify the true statements.

switch (enable) xxxxxx xxxxxxx
Destination : Port 6/1
Admin Source : Port 6/2
Oper Source : Port 6/2
Direction : transmit/receive
Incoming Packets: disabled
Learning : enabled
Multicast : enabledFilter : - Status : active

Total local span sessions: 1

A. The command represented by x is show span.

B. The command represented by x is show spanning-tree.

C. The command represented by x is show monitor session.

D. The switch is most likely a Catalyst 5000.

E. The switch is most likely a Catalyst 2950.

Answers: A, D. The output is that of show span on a Catalyst 5000 switch. Running show span on a 2950 will show you spanning tree information; the command to see SPAN information on a 2950 is show monitor session.
